We are rediscovering the biblical church, primarily in the book of Acts. As we have look at the church’s call to be on mission with God, we can’t forget the church is also called to be in communion or covenant with God and one another. Most of us are even more comfortable with one over the other, but what would it look like if we were radically committed to covenant community and kingdom mission with God?

What would it look like if the whole church was release as “communities on mission”? The New Testament gives us a clear model of what this can and should look like. Quite frankly, it’s really amazing. And it changes everything, but it is up to you to embrace what is possible.

How do we live in the tension? God has called us to partner with Him in the restoration of the Earth, but even greater than that, He has offered to us a covenant invitation that we would be His children and He would be our God.

This Sunday will conclude our study in the book of John: “Encounters with Jesus.” The way John chooses to end his gospel should not surprise us, but rather affirm within our hearts what this “Apostle of Love” has been trying to communicate about Jesus throughout. Have we discovered what is in Jesus’ heart for His people? Read John 21 and see if you recognize the offer Jesus is making Peter in your own life with God. Do you know what it means to be in covenant with Jesus?

Jesus came into the world as a great light exposing the darkness of the world. Throughout the gospel of John, Jesus is calling people to walk out of their personal darkness and into the freedom of His light. But let’s make it personal. What if Jesus approached you and exposed the darkness within you? What would He find? When confronted with the light of Jesus, we know our darkness cannot be hidden — even if no one else knows about it. How do you think Jesus would respond to your sin and shame?
